We had the opportunity to visit Woodland Academy Trust, a group of five primary schools across Bexley and Kent, to see firsthand how they have embraced their 1:1 iPad programme and integrated Magma Maths to enhance the mathematics skills of students throughout the school.
From their very first demonstration, the trust recognised Magma Maths as a powerful tool for modern teaching. “I’ve just seen probably the best new educational app I’ve ever seen—we need to be exploring this,” Dan Davies (Assistant Head Teacher) shared. The combination of iPad and Magma Maths has given educators the freedom to move around the classroom, interact with students in real time, and focus on delivering high-quality, engaging lessons.
For the teaching staff, this shift has been a game changer allowing them to be free and in the moment. “I feel like it’s made me a better teacher”, “everything is so much easier”, “it’s not about being a techie, it’s about really good teaching and learning. How the technology can support the outcomes for the children.” The combination of iPad and Magma Maths helped enhance effective teaching methods and resulted in better learning outcomes for students. It has allowed teachers to do what they do best and what they came into the profession to do, while supporting better learning outcomes for students.
Students are more engaged, lessons are more interactive, and problem-solving skills have improved. “The difference is visible on the children’s faces – they’re so engaged.”
The impact has been evident not only in the classroom but across the Trust. “It’s Completely revolutionised the way that we focus on teaching in the classroom.”
